Tarah writes for several online and print publications, including Paleo Living Magazine and Primal Pal. Disappointed

I was pretty disappointed in this book. The suggestions for both diet and lifestyle are very vague and general. The recipes are plentiful but are not pregnancy specific at all. I was hoping for some specific recipes for each trimester to address a woman's unique needs as her pregnancy progresses. There was little talk of supplementation or any good evidence based information regarding pregnancy diet choices. There was also wasn't any advice from OB's, midwives or nurses. Again, very vague and disappointing. As an birth professional, I bought this book to put in my waiting room for my patients to enjoy but after reading it, I don't feel it's the best resource for women and their families. Tarah's got a great blog but the book leaves much to be desired.

Was a disappointed in this book

Was a disappointed in this book. I wouldn't consider it a "paleo pregnancy" book as much as a book that has introductory paleo principles mixed in with general pregnancy information. While the information was good, it's nothing that I didn't already know, even as a first-time pregger who has been paleo for a while. More than anything, though, it's a cookbook, with most of the pages dedicated to basic paleo recipes that are not different from what you can find on any paleo website.

EXCELLENT read on optimizing your pregnancy through the powers or real food.

I read a lot of health and fitness books and I think this is my second review I have ever taken the time to write because I really enjoyed the book! This is a fabulous book for anyone interested in having a healthy pregnancy by leveraging the power of real food. There is an abundance of information on what to eat, what to avoid and why as well as nutrients that are important during your pregnancy and where to find them. Supplementation, food quality, and what to expect while you are pregnant are also included as well as information on many postpartum issues. The best part-there are tons of awesome recipes in it that I can't wait to try!
Though this book would be an AWESOME purchase for anyone who is expecting and is health conscious, there is an over abundance of great information that you don't have to be pregnant to get something out of. I would highly recommend this book.
