There are so many dangers that come along with smoking and I would hate to see any of my family suffer. Luckily, this book provides a lot of advice on how to overcome smoking and quit forever. I always knew that baking soda had cleaning properties, but I was never really sure how to go about using it. This book is perfect! It teaches you some of the most basic and helpful of uses baking soda (everything from cleaning around the home, to cleaning yourself) all the way up to some more sophisticated uses, including home made cleaners and so much more! I guess I will be buying a couple more boxes of baking soda the next time I go shopping. I am always looking for new ways to clean that are safe for the environment and for people, especially with a toddler running around the house, and this is a great solution for so many different uses!!

About the Author
Roger R. Hock, PhD, is a professor of psychology and human sexuality at Mendocino College in northern California. He received his MA in Psychology from San Diego State University and his PhD in Psychology from the University of California at San Diego. He is also the author of Forty Studies that Changed Psychology: Explorations into the History of Psychological Research (Pearson, 2012) and coauthor (with Meg Kennedy Dugan) of It’s My Life Now: Starting over after an Abusive Relationship or Domestic Violence (Routledge, 2006), and (with Amy Marin) Psychology, a digital introductory psychology textbook from Pearson Education.

Dr. Hock has been teaching psychology and human sexuality for over twenty-five years. Human Sexuality is his favorite class to teach and is consistently one of the most popular among students. He believes that Human Sexuality is an essential course for college students because the topics covered are fundamental to our lives and our identities as humans. He asserts that the Human Sexuality course should be a requirement for all undergraduate college and university students. Why? Because the material in this course touches everyone, in countless ways, throughout their lives. But, more importantly, students, upon entering college as adults, often lack a complete and current understanding of at least some, if not many, key issues that combine to create the complexities of humans as sexual beings. Sex education in grades K—12 tends to be incomplete, inadequate, sometimes misleading, and too often, nonexistent. Moreover, not all parents are willing or able to impart the necessary and correct information to their children. Students in higher education clearly need and deserve the knowledge they acquire in this class.

The author explains everything so well. I love how he incorporates questions his students have asked him throughout the years and actually answers them in this textbook in an educated manner. I rented this textbook and the quality in which I received it was near new. I really enjoyed this textbook since it wasn’t hard to comprehend at all. The price of this textbook is high but if you manage to rent it, I can honestly say that you will enjoy it.

happy, and fulfilled this book is essential

Equal parts memoir, advice, and science "Women, Food, and Desire" delves deep into the complicated, and often conflicting, relationship between food, our bodies, and our purpose in life. While written from a woman's perspective, most of the information applies equally to both genders. This book will help men and women alike untangle our complicated relationship to dinner.

Men will also learn to see the subject of food more clearly from a woman's perspective, and learn how loaded the question "what shall we have for dinner" can be—and how attached it is to her self-worth and sexuality. If you want to help the women in your life to feel healthy, happy, and fulfilled this book is essential.

Finding the joy in eating

Finally - a book that actually gets to the heart of WHY we have such a f*cked up attitude towards food (well, I can only speak for myself - but it seems that it's not enough to know intellectually what things like sugar and gluten are doing to my system - that knowledge is common, but it's not changing my behavior one bit). This book is an exploration of why we have cravings, and invites you to explore deeper into your triggers and habits around food. (Ironically - my mother gave me a copy for Christmas, and it was wrapped up with a chocolate bar. Speaking of food as love!) I am finding a lot of useful insights in the book. It's not a checklist as all - it's part memoir, which I appreciate. I find that allows me to absorb the ideas as I read instead of turning to the "How-To" chapter and ignoring the lead up. It's funny - I've been on the fence about joining the gym again (something I promise myself I'll never do again until I do it) and last night I read these words "Why I don't exercise." Jamieson goes on to talk about how exercise evokes work for her (totally agree) and how shifting our views on movement from work to play can free our attitude towards it. Seems simple - but it was helpful for me to read that. I'm investing in a hula hoop, and going dancing instead. In fact, I'd say that pretty much sums up the core message of the book - rediscovering the joy in food, in movement, in your body. I'm finding the support really inspiring.

Alexandra does what few people can: she actually shows you how to get to the root of your self-care challenges and transform them. For years I've used daily habits to increase my wellness and happiness. With Jenny's book I can add a few more to repertoire. They are simple yet solid habits that you can add easily to your daily life.

If each of her 70 habits increased your health by just ONE percent, just think what the cumulative effect would be! A favorite motto of mine is "Incremental Actions Bring Monumental Results". Those incremental actions can certainly be learning to relax, improving your social relationships, and finding hobbies that spark your passions.

Written in an easy to read style with about one page devoted to each habit, "70 Powerful Habits" can be read all at once, or one page a day. The "further reading" links for each habit allow me to delve more deeply into those that really work for me.

This book is chock-full of useful and intelligent information

I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to incorporate healthier habits into their life. If you want to be healthy (mentally and physically) more energized and lose some weight then this is the perfect book for you. Some of the habits are life changing and I've already started implementing them.

The book provides a lot of useful background information to substantiate these habits. The part I really appreciate the most is that every habit includes a list of actionable items so they can be easily implemented straight away. As Jenny (the author) says, you shouldn't rush the process and I agree with that. If you'll slowly start to implement these habits one by one, your life will change for the better.

Relationships are beyond complicated and god knows, individuals are more so. That makes for a combustible formula for bad coupleings and marriages. Women are very quick to think...If I can just change him. (I'm sure the reverse is the same for men but I am a women and see this from my point of view)

Along comes a book like this from Erica Harding. A lifeline of hope that shows how to identify the root of many bad relationships and how to learn to avoid them or exteicate yourself. This book can be an eye opener for many of us. If you can't name the problem, some will not even understand there is one.

I reccommend this for anyone that finds the important relationships in their lives are not functioning no matter how many solutions you try.

In fact it does a great job of covering all the different possible kinds of codependent
relationships. It discusses the advantages and disadvantages of codependency therefore
helping you decide whether or not you should continue in such a relationship which could
be a source of constant pain. The book also discusses the psychological impact of unaddressed
codependency. Nice Book.

Such a Great Resource!

This book is written in such a way that a long time sufferer or someone newly diagnosed could easily pick it up and use it as a guide for helping to soothe their Crohn's and Ulcerative Colitis flare ups. This author recommends products and brands that are trusted and respected within the natural health industry. She writes with such an intimate understanding not only because she is very highly trained but because she has had so much face to face time with people who suffer from these ailments. This book is certainly worth keeping on hand.

For anyone with digestive issues

I’ve had some intestinal issues and it’s frustrating when traditional medicine doesn’t seem to have the answers. After going to several gastro doctors and an allergist, I went to a naturopathic doctor who tested me for food sensitivities. Traditional doctors test for allergies, not sensitivities. I found that I had sensitivities to foods I’d been eating almost every day that I’d never suspected were causing stomach pain. I think it’s very important to be proactive about your health. Shobha Lila seems very qualified and shares some good information and suggestions. I like that this publication is very concise and that she doesn’t waste the reader’s time with a lot of filler. There’s information about probiotics, supplements, soothing teas and other valuable lifestyle suggestions that are simple and easy to do and will help you on your path to better health. I found the information made a lot of sense and I plan to try some of the things I haven’t already tried. Anyone who’s had health issues knows that any information that can make you feel better is priceless. If you’re having digestive issues or stomach pain, the information in this book may very well help you feel better fast.
