In the early 1990's I began writing for Stuart McRobert's Hardgainer magazine. In 1996, I published Dinosaur Training: Lost Secrets of Strength and Development. Since then, I've written and published more than 20 books and courses and written thousands of blog posts and articles on strength training, muscle building, weightlifting and Iron Game history, famous strongmen and how they trained, diet, nutrition, and the all-important mental aspects of strength training. I've edited and published close to 100 issues of The Dinosaur Files newsletter, which is now available in a journal-sized quarterly format, and I've put together over a dozen strength training DVD's. I've done close to 100 podcast interviews, delivered audio seminars, presented live seminars, and answered thousands of training questions from readers around the word. By conservative estimate, I've written well over one million words about strength training, muscle building and physical culture.

I've done this—and I continue to do it—because I've made it my life's work to promote sane, sensible, result producing and effective strength training and muscle building—and to teach and preserve the very best traditions of old-school physical culture. My goal is to teach as many people as possible about the kind of training that really works—the kind of training that builds real-world strength, muscle and power, promotes life-long good health and develops the mind and the heart of a true champion.

This book is the first in a series of books that will collect, collate and update all of the information in my other books, courses and articles. We're going to begin with a very important topic: the most effective exercises, and how to put them together into workouts and training programs that will build strength, muscle and power as rapidly and efficiently as possible. There is a wealth of valuable information in this book, and if you read, study and apply what you find within its pages, I have no doubt that you will enjoy great gains and rapid progress. I also believe that although your training will require plenty of hard work, you'll find your workouts to be fun and enjoyable. Human beings thrive when they meet and overcome challenges, and that makes old-school strength training an enormously rewarding activity for all of us.

Perfect for new dinos; affordable for old dinos

I'll say this first: If you are already a dino, this may not be the book for you, and you should wait for the next book in the series. That being said, this is an excellent update and consolidation of the many great principles, workouts, and bits of history that Mr. Kubik has disseminated to the Dino-Training crowd over the years. The affordable ebook format will be great for any newcomers to Dino Training, and the book is succinct, effective, and to the point. I fear that there isn't much new here for ppl who already have both DINOSAUR TRAINING and CHALK AND SWEAT (which I base my own workouts off of). There is a nice short chapter on H.I.T. (high-intensity; of single-set-to-failure training) which I found to be enlightening despite being a dyed-in-the-wool dino. There is a good chapter on heavy dumbbell training as well.

In SUMMARY: Mr. Kubik has consolidated his decades-in-the-making body of work into a brief and affordable format for new dinos. There are a few gems here for his current fans, which make it worth the small price-tag perhaps. But overall, I think this is a fantastic book for NEW dinos, but something that owners of DINOSAUR TRAINING and CHALK & SWEAT may find useful mostly for one or two brief chapters and as a reminder that dino training aint new; its just worth doing.

Perfect Update To The Dino Repertoire

I have been reading Brooks books since the original Dinosaur Training was released in the 90's. This book retreads some already worn roads if you are a frequent reader of Brooks' works but they're roads that are well worth going down again and again. Sensible training that suites your age and abilities along with wisdom from the "original strongman philosophers" and great workout ideas that are sure to please all but the "slaves" to the current Mr. Wonderful workouts published in the glossy comic book rags. Thanks You Brooks for publishing in the ebook format. Although I do miss the worn, sweat stained pages of my Grey Hair and Black Iron.

This is an excellent book for those wanting to take their training to ...

This is an excellent book for those wanting to take their training to the next level and beyond. There is so much now available out there on different methodologies, routines, etc. however there was a time when it was all fairly simple and predictable with strength, size and most importantly health the consistent outcome. This book will assist you to take the next step to that outcome.
