DASH is actually an acronym for Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension. In other words, it's a diet that will help to lower your blood pressure. As the book explains, high blood pressure is a much more serious condition than many consider it, and so this diet is of some interest to those who might suffer from it. Taylor actually claims the diet can, within two weeks, provide the same benefit as high blood pressure medication.
The book lays out detailed charts and graphs outlining exactly what foods you should eat, and how much of them you should eat. It focuses on lots of fruit and vegetable and less sodium. The book also explains why it is making the recommendations it is, and doesn't just expect the reader to follow its directions blindly. Another great feature is the example daily DASH diet that shows you can eat delicious meals while staying within its parameters.

Turns out the DASH diet is also good for lowering cholesterol

My mother was prescribed the DASH diet to help lower her blood pressure. If she sticks to the diet, hopefully she won’t have to take medication for her borderline hypertension. So, I wanted to find out what she should and shouldn’t be eating. The history of the DASH diet is discussed here, and the science behind it. Turns out the DASH diet is also good for lowering cholesterol. The diet is pretty easy to follow and is basically low in sodium, and high in servings of fruits and vegetables. I found the section about what to look for on food labels especially helpful.

The dash diet has really helped me to slim down and get on a more structured meal plan that works with my body and my schedule. I know that this diet is approved by many big names in weight loss so I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I did because I've lost a total of 5.3 pounds in only one week of this program. The dash diet truly works if you're willing to put in the time and effort to do it the right way and stick with it. I like how organized and helpful this book was and it truly had an impact on my weight loss. I highly recommend for I've already told my family and friends about the wonders it does.
