About the Author
Master trainer Shaun Zetlin has successfully run his own personal training business in New York City for nearly 15 years. His clientele ranges from the Paul Taylor Dance Company principle dancer to the senior citizen. Shaun is the author of the acclaimed "Push-up Progression" books series that has been featured by Discovery Channel, Health.com, The Active Times, and Yahoo Health. He received his degree from the University of Delaware and holds a variety of certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) and the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA). It is also with these two accredited associations that Shaun recently became a continuing education unit provider for his course, "Push-up Progression Specialist" based upon his books. Got me focused on my core again

Zetlin has a ton of technical details about the core. I had no idea there were that many muscles there. Makes sense though. This book highlighted my weak core area. I was doing squats and deadlifts which I thought was strengthening my core, but it wasn't enough. I tweaked a little muscle in my back and have been working it back up. I really think it was just from a lack of strength in my stomach and lower back, which Zetlin hits hard in this book. I have added the kick backs with push-ups and the mountain climbers with push-ups into a new core part of my routine. I think it is making a big difference in my recovery and I feel more agile in general. A few technical parts were a little difficult to get through but the information is well researched and there will undoubtedly be something in this book you can use. Overall the book really did change my perspective and got me focused back on what I think is the most important part of the body .

How the push up, the most basic of exercises, can be a path to total body fitness

I have trained with Shaun on a weekly basis for the past 7 years and have seen his highly professional and focused approach to acquiring, maintaining and enhancing which lead to stability, strength and power. Push-Up Progression is a clearly-written, informative and highly practical guide that will help virtually anyone who is interested in their own health and well-being. The book helps explain what does and does not work - and why - and is grounded in Shaun's encyclopedic knowledge of the human body and fitness. The push up, in its many forms, has done more for me than I could possibly have imagined.

who knew what push-ups could do!

I recently bought this book because I need a routine that I can do on the road, especially when I don't have a lot of time or access to equipment. As a professional dancer, I was curious to see how the traditional push-up could actually build my core -- this isn't something I've ever thought possible from a push-up. Three weeks later, I'm finding that I can execute certain movement sequences with an ease I've never experienced before. The new-found power in my legs is being noticed by my colleagues! I didn't know that push-ups could be so inventive and effective, and not just for the upper body. Well written, great reference images, and complete with varying levels at every step -- you MUST take this push-up journey!
