It analyzes an individual's personality framework and can be extremely helpful in determining their communication style, preferred work environment, and general interests. The Myers-Briggs test also actuates the similarities and differences between people and enables more harmonious interpersonal relationships. It was first published in 1962 by psychological theorists Isabel Briggs-Myers and her mother, Katharine Cook Briggs; the MBTI test is one of the oldest personality tests in existence. The mother-daughter team began developing the test in the 1940s to measure people's cognitive preferences in how they made decisions and viewed the world. They first came up with the idea after a lengthy study of Carl Jung's proposed typological theories. Jung published the book Psychological Types in which he theorized that there are four primary functions by which people perceive the world. Myers and Briggs took Jung's theories further by creating the MBTI test. Their original goal was to help women determine which jobs during the war would be the best fit for them. Since then, the MBTI test has grown to become one of the most widely taken personality assessments in the world. A Wonderful Look At ESFJ Types

ESFJ: Understanding and Relating with the Provider is an insightful look and presentation about the Myers-Riggs Type Indicator test. The book explains the MBTI questionnaire and the assessment it takes in providing the different acronyms. It covers nicely, who is an EFJ and what are their strengths and weaknesses. I’ve done this or similar tests at work and it’s not hard to quickly break-down who falls into the larger four groups, and almost every household has one ESFJ, if they’re not lucky enough to have two. The book has a good work/life balance at looking over the different personalities we all come across in our everyday world. The author has included a great chapter on actionable steps to overcoming the major weaknesses of an ESFJ, a great opportunity at some introspection. I enjoyed all the insights on the famous and influential of the group. A great read that leaves you with a better understand about the decision-making and perception of a lot of people.

Great Read

I thought this book was a nice read. It wasn't too long but wasn't too short either. As an ESFJ, I wanted to learn more about what really drives me and I think I got a better understanding of that after reading this book. My favorite part was the last section before the conclusion where the author wrote about ten of the most famous ESFJs. I never knew the founder of Wal-Mart was an ESFJ...now I feel like I need to read Walton's Made in America book.

A detailed and informative book about a specific personality type

This book explains the different personalities that is outlined as a result of the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator test. It starts off with a brief introduction to the test and the possible results before zoning into more detail into the second most common personality type: ESFJ (hence the title). It then specifies the specific traits of ESFJ people, why they are people persons, how they make an effective leader, and what makes them happy.
If you have a personality type of ESFJ or are curious about them, this book is definitely for you.

Of course, not every personality type is perfect, so the book also outlines the weaknesses of ESFJs, and provides leaders that can be potential role models or aspirations.

I am encouraged with this book!

It is so painful that our life has been becoming busy, full of negative items that make us suffer, depressed. I guess that the reason is having no energy for enjoing the life itself. To give free time for meditation or just concentration on a elemens is so easy for us. We don't respect such ways to heal our life. We are used to think that everything is complicated, dirty and we must fight for better life. Actually, it is not true. I guess such thoughts exist in our minds because of long-time anxiouty, fear etc. Have read this book I understood that the most complicated tangled problems must be solved with simple methods like control the breathing, concentation on the natural elements, control on the listening to some sounds. I feel that it is the best "happy" ways to fight the anxiouty and stress completely!

The author's style is very engaging and easy to follow. The importance of living in the present, as opposed to dwelling on the past, is discussed. The book emphasizes acceptance of self and having the ability to choose and follow through with choices. The book explains how mindfulness helps you to become a whole, happy and successful person and how to be mindful in practice. It gives you exercises to enhance mindfulness in your life including breathing exercises, mediation, observations and more. The book goes on to explain how mindfulness affects life, relationships and business dealings. Her enthusiasm for the importance of mindfulness is infectious and inspiring throughout. Especially the tips for work and business are very useful.

It is an essay based in common sense. Does not worth the money paid.

I read this book in something like 15 minutes. The introduction is about 20% of the book and the rest of the content are things of common sense, like for example, do not wear high heels because it is easier to run with other kind of shoes, do not go out during the night, in case of any problem, first hit and then run, and a list of sensitive points in the body which can lead be hit in case you need to. There is nothing like a list of techniques, examples in how to hit or how to defend yourself in a specific situation. I could have written this book in one day.

Wow! What an amazing book! As a young woman, I have found myself in situations where i feel uncomfortable and wish i new how to deal with them if the situation escalates. If you've ever thought the same then this is the book for you!

Talking you through the best, most suitable clothes to wear and street weapons that can be used, i am so happy I've found this book and feel so much safer now that i know how to protect myself. Definitely a must read!!!

Very comprehensive book on self defense!

This book is a complete guide to everything you need to know as a beginner for self defense! I loved it, and found it very well written and informative in what I need to know to better defend myself! One of the things this book points out some weak spots to attack on human bodies and I found that very interesting- toes are sensitive when i think about it, but for self defense I wouldn't have thought to attack that as an option. It was just very interesting.

Loved the guidance about how to avoid being seen as the "desperate ex" by not being too openly vulnerable, too soon, and instead by being calm and composed. The texts are divided into categories like "Knock on the Door," to see if your ex is curious and open to re-connecting. This is a cool book and I believe the texts would work with the right partner. The Author provides some really good tips; and the book is well written despite a couple minor typos. I didn't give it five stars only because I'm fresh out of my relationship and am not ready to put the steps into practice yet. Thus, I can't personally speak to how effective it would be. I do look forward to reading some of the success stories from some of the other readers.

This is a an excellent book! I recommend it to anyone that practices acupuncture, oriental medicine, and/or combination of other types of medicine including classic allopathic diagnosis, homeopathy, and other types of medical disciplines. The best book ever! Don't leave home without it.

This is the third edition of the entirely useful and practical manual for the acupuncture clinic. It's the most organized handbook I've seen on the market with the following subjects covered : Diagnosis, acupuncture, herbs, formulas, biomedicine and practice management tools. I'm really impressed with the microsystems sections : ear, scalp, facial, abdominal, Korean hand therapy as well as Master Tung's major points. The 3rd edition has been upgraded to a hardcover spiral-bound, so it can be used for years to come. Highly recommended.

It's a clever little book. It's a concise little book. It's a compact little book. It's a comprehensive and expert little book. This is no ordinary little clinical reference guide -- This is Dr. H.B. Kim's MINIBOOK. I use it every day in my busy clinic.

Not only is it small enough to fit into my front lab coat pocket, The MINIBOOK posses a logical layout which makes it quick and easy to reference facts and information. I like the way the charts and graphs are plainly written. They compare and contrast and are always a 100 % accurate.

In a face-paced clinical environment, a busy acupuncturist may( just for a moment ) forget let's say...... the Xi-cleft point of Dai Mai precisely when he/she needs it. What does one do? Just pull Dr. Kim's MINIBOOK from your front pocket and Voila! There it is! Now, you recall that you knew it all along. It just slipped for a minute, One cannot remember everything, and that's why this little gem is so important.

I highly recommend this Ingenious Little Book. It comes complete with formulas,single herbs and pictures of single herbs, Bio Medicine as well as Eastern and Western diagnosis. It also has a comprehensive section related to point on each meridian. (there is usually a compare/contrast chart for points that are similar in function).

I really enjoyed reading this book

I really enjoyed reading this book. It is so beautifully simply written and you can tell the authors have experienced living with chronic pain. But their expressions and descriptions are filled with a compassionate understanding and generosity to the reader. One of the main things I loved was the way the authors explained that there will be resistance to some of the techniques that are suggesting. They clearly spelled out problems the reader might face. Some books may suggest do this, do that and you will feel this. But if you do not get the described result you may feel as though you have failed in some way. Vidyamala and Danny clearly state that these practices take time to master and are very explicit in describing the strategies, thoughts, feelings and struggles that might arise initially in this new practice. This gives the reader the confidence to begin the program and know that their resistance/struggles are a normal, common response. They also provide effective encouragement and techniques to help the reader continue through the program. The many years of built up experience and compassion resonates from the authors. In particular, I found it very comforting to be reassured that you cannot fail at meditation. With time and practice, I feel confident I will see the benefits from regular practice. I also liked the few references in the guided meditations to "respond to your own discomfort as you would naturally respond to a loved one who was hurting". This is so relevant for me as a reminder to be mindful of the tone of my self-talk. The kinds of things I would say to myself I would never say to a family member or friend, so it acts as a good reminder to be aware and then to respond with a gentle understanding and compassion.

Finally! Pain free - at least at times.

I have suffered referred pain from an old neck injury for about six years now. I've given up on the nerve pain drugs that make you too spaced out to do anything, the shots are dangerous, and the PT only takes care of so much. Meditation and Mindfulness are helping me immensely, relax the tense bracing muscles, relax my jaw and reduce my headaches. This seems a much better treatment for me then all the things I've tried before.

Excellent book. Very good meditation CD included.

If you're looking for an introduction to neuroscience, look somewhere else.

A point for effort, but I couldn't read more than 5 pages total across several chapters. It reads as though it was written by an undergraduate the night before it was due, and he/she forgot to proof read. Most sentences are barely grammatical, and some, I'm persuaded, don't qualify as acceptable English. Unfortunately, the fluidity of thought is likewise below standard for common published material. I was excited by the wide range of topics intimated by the table of contents and positive reader reviews, but was unprepared for the insult to my intelligence. I was unable to find anything about the author, Tim Berg, before or after buying the book; maybe that should have told me something. At least I didn't waste more than $4. If you're looking for an introduction to neuroscience, look somewhere else.

SURGE is emphatically not a full photo-sequence paint-by-numbers introduction to the entire method. Although the internal development requirements for every pose in the ZMQ sequence are fully described, visual references for each pose are not included. SURGE is not adequate for, and not intended as, a step-by-step tutorial on the mechanics of the system. You cannot learn the ZMQ method from this book. It is intended as a supplement to your Tai Chi study. Please take this advisory very seriously - you’ll sound ridiculous if you later complain: “I couldn’t learn the Tai Chi form from this book!”
It’s a repository of profound internal training insights that you can apply to the Tai Chi that you’ve learned elsewhere.

Fortunately I have a track record and before clicking to buy this, I request that you do some research by reading all the reviews of all my other books. Read the cheers and the jeers, the lovers and the haters, all of it, before deciding to buy. Though embedded rock-solid in the philosophy of the Tai Chi Classic Writings, nevertheless the title says it best: my approach is RADICAL, and it seriously baffles and bothers many people. If, after doing full diligence, you’re left with any doubts whatsoever, that’s the universe giving you thumbs-down, telling you this material isn’t for you, so err on the side of caution and save your money.

An absolute straight shot guide to feeling the energy in taiji

Honestly, I should start out by adding my whole-hearted praise of JUICE, PENG and RXE, because they really are great precursors to this book if you decide to pursue energetic centric martial arts, but here's what I can happily report after about a month and a half of consistent (and I do mean at least once a day) practice - it's exactly as Meredith outlines in the Introduction. My legs and focus are stronger. I can feel a loosening of my body, but maybe most importantly, I can feel in my body the energy Meredith describes exactly as he describes it. And it continues to grow as I continue practicing. SURGE is a practical way to efficiently start to really feel the energy that the taiji masters of the past and present are actually talking about. As a guide, it's one of the best out there. I also appreciate Meredith's writing style straight forward, at times, tongue-in-cheek way of talking about internal arts. If you actually tried and diligently worked with an open mind the practice points he talks about, I just don't see how you wouldn't be able to feel what he's talking about unless you're blocked in some other way. Still, not for the feint of heart, it's definitely written in a different style than most internal arts books out there. One last thing, I think the artwork is pretty great too, but that's really just icing. The meat and potatoes part is the energy. Enjoy!

Like a lot of folks out there

Scott Meredith has written another clear, sincere, and entertaining guidebook for how to get more out of your Taiji practice. Like a lot of folks out there, I am interested in Taiji primarily as an energetic art. I haven't found any current writer who addresses this way of thinking about Taiji more deeply or effectively. Do yourself a favor and check it out.

SURGE teaches two practices -- Cat step and Counter Sink -- that will put the "Surge" of energy into your form. These are explained clearly and in detail with extensive notes on their implementation in each position of Meredith's favorite style (Cheng Man-Ch'ing's 37 postures) and concludes with a very interesting section on "Advanced Work." It is an excellent book of very great value to serious practitioners of Tai Chi.

While "SURGE" can be used alone, the reader could benefit even more by reading Meredith's two earlier books "JUICE" and "PENG," before taking up "SURGE."

This reviewer practiced Tai Chi for many years with a feeling that it was a nice exercise but that he had no access to the deeper levels. With Meredith's published works this has changed. I strongly recommend everything he has published and look forward to his future books and DVDs.
