No Gimmicks
By Scott Miller
Reading the title of this book might make you think that it is filled with black magic or voodoo. However, it is actually a collection of sound information and instruction that, when practiced, will help anyone to achieve their maximum height. It tells you which foods to eat, which yoga poses to do, and a bunch of other things to implement. I’m excited to try out some of the suggestions.

Excellent book about growing taller. I didnt really know what to expect from this book but was pleasantly surprised by the contents. There is alot of information here not only about growing taller but what also retards one"s growth.I remember growing up and how some kids were very tall and some were not. This book gives a partial explanation to that.I think lack of sleep and cigarettes can be a big factor in reduced growth while vitamins can be very helpful to growth. All in all a very informative read!

Just think if you have a go-to book that would help solve your toughest challenges when working with troubled teens. Jean Eich, PsyD, was searching for such a resource and it didn't exist....
"I didn't have and couldn't find a comprehensive, practical source of information for doing DBT with teenagers. And it needed to be something that spoke to therapists, parents and the adolescents as all are involved for successful treatment. I wanted a source of information that would include worksheets on DBT written for teenagers and n a way that appeals to them. I also wanted information about how to practically apply DBT with parents and a source of information that I could point parents to. Plus - it needed to include something for the professionals to implement DBT, and work with these distinct audiences, as they are related. Not finding what I needed - I wrote one, including all the information I have learned and applied in my own practice."
Introducing - a complete skills training manual for DBT with adolescents, focused on practical application for teens, parents and therapists, all in one comprehensive manual.

Part One covers DBT for teens with comprehensive and age-relevant skills explanations, examples and applied worksheets. Eich makes the skills real for teens with exercises that get them practicing new behaviors in real-life situations. Includes teaching pages for all four DBT skills training modules.
Part Two is a dedicated focus to parents with pertinent information on DBT, parenting and common teenage developmental issues, as well as, skills written to get parents using them individually, in connection with their child(ren), and as a part of the family system. This section not only emphasizes that DBT skills can be used for anybody and everybody, but also that parents need to be active and involved for any effective change process.
Part Three is crafted for therapists, with practical strategies on how to conduct DBT programming, tips to navigate dialectical dilemmas with adolescent developmental tasks and behaviors, and advice to balance therapy with parental involvement. Part Three also contains suggestions to teach the skills in active and experiential ways along with helpful sample forms, handouts and worksheets.

Very Helpful Book
By Gordo
This book has excellent training and techniques for teens and adults that deal with Personality Disorders. My daughter has been in therapy and was recommended to use this skills workbook. It has helped her to gain real life coping skills, and it has helped me as her parent to gain skills as well. This book is a must have for parents and teens (can't speak for adults, but I bet it would help them too) who are looking for help and answers when dealing with mental disorders and behavioral problems. As a parent it has also given me skills to deal with my daughters mental disorder and helped me be more thoughtful with my other children as well. It's a win win for both me and my daughter.

Because I Was Fat - Me and My Eating Disorder: How I Lost 224 Pounds in 10 months, by Andy Butler

On January 2nd 2014, Andy Butler set out on his hardest journey yet. After living with bulimia and binge eating disorder since he was a teenager, Andy set out to change his life. He was 32 and weighed 28 stone. 10 months later he had lost over 16 stone and, while not claiming to be 'cured' he has conquered many demons along the way. Losing so much weight was not easy but he achieved this through hard work, exercise and weight-loss surgery.

This book is his journal detailing a 16 stone weight-loss, documenting everything he felt and went through during the 10 months it took to reach his goal weight. This book is a brutally honest real life tale of how he personally overcame his binge eating disorder and changing his life. It also looks at how he built exercise into his daily life and a personal account of his gastric sleeve operation.

This book doesn't set out to offer any advice and Andy doesn't claim to have the answers, nor is he qualified to offer any or give any advice. This is his truth and documents the pain, problems, highs and lows of his incredible achievement.

One thing Andy couldn’t find when he first started investigating weight-loss surgery was a real life perspective from another patient. There are plenty of medical books and professional opinions, but very few books that give a true insight into how somebody might feel. Of course, everyone feels differently, both before and after surgery. However, if any of this book helps future weight-loss surgery patients prepare for a life changing operation then he is happy to share his own personal experience.

While this is primarily a story of weight-loss, this is also a story of immense courage and determination and of sticking with something despite all sorts of obstacles.

Andy's story was so inspiring that it was picked up my local and national media including the Daily Mail, Daily Mirror, Daily Star and the Liverpool Echo.

(Please note that this book is written from a personal perspective and is in no way intended to offer professional advice)

The Brain That Changes Itself: Stories of Personal Triumph from the Frontiers of Brain Science, by Norman Doidge M.D.

“Fascinating. Doidge’s book is a remarkable and hopeful portrait of the endless adaptability of the human brain.” ―Oliver Sacks

The discovery that our thoughts can change the structure and function of our brains―even into old age―is the most important breakthrough in neuroscience in four centuries. In this revolutionary look at the brain, bestselling author, psychiatrist, and psychoanalyst Norman Doidge, M.D., introduces both the brilliant scientists championing this new science of neuroplasticity and the astonishing progress of the people whose lives they’ve transformed. Introducing principles we can all use as well as a riveting collection of case histories―stroke patients cured, a woman with half a brain that rewired itself to work as a whole, learning and emotional disorders overcome, IQs raised, and aging brains rejuvenated―The Brain That Changes Itself has “implications for all human beings, not to mention human culture, human learning and human history” (The New York Times).

“Readers will want to read entire sections aloud and pass the book on to someone who can benefit from it….Links scientific experimentation with personal triumph in a way that inspires awe.” ―The Washington Post

From Publishers Weekly
For years the doctrine of neuroscientists has been that the brain is a machine: break a part and you lose that function permanently. But more and more evidence is turning up to show that the brain can rewire itself, even in the face of catastrophic trauma: essentially, the functions of the brain can be strengthened just like a weak muscle. Scientists have taught a woman with damaged inner ears, who for five years had had "a sense of perpetual falling," to regain her sense of balance with a sensor on her tongue, and a stroke victim to recover the ability to walk although 97% of the nerves from the cerebral cortex to the spine were destroyed. With detailed case studies reminiscent of Oliver Sachs, combined with extensive interviews with lead researchers, Doidge, a research psychiatrist and psychoanalyst at Columbia and the University of Toronto, slowly turns everything we thought we knew about the brain upside down. He is, perhaps, overenthusiastic about the possibilities, believing that this new science can fix every neurological problem, from learning disabilities to blindness. But Doidge writes interestingly and engagingly about some of the least understood marvels of the brain. (Mar. 19)

It takes a rare talent to explain science to the rest of us. Oliver Sacks is a master at this. So was the late Stephen Jay Gould. A case can be made for John Emsley, one-time science writer in residence at Cambridge, and author, most recently, of Better Looking, Better Living, Better Loving: How Chemistry Can Help You Achieve Life's Goals (2007).

And now there is Norman Doidge, a psychiatrist who divides his time between Columbia University and the University of Toronto. Four years ago, Doidge set himself the most cerebral of tasks: to understand a concept called neuroplasticity. The brain, far from being a collection of specialized parts, each fixed in its location and function, is in fact a dynamic organ, one that can rewire and rearrange itself as the need arises. That need can arise when the brain is physically damaged, as it is by a stroke, or simply when it is allowed to go to seed, as it has in my case.

It is an insight from which all of us can benefit. People with severe afflictions -- strokes, cerebral palsy, schizophrenia, learning disabilities, obsessive compulsive disorders and the like -- are the most obvious candidates, but who among us would not like to tack on a few IQ points or improve our memories?

To benefit from a concept, one must first grasp it, and that is what makes The Brain That Changes Itself such a terrific book. You don't have to be a brain surgeon to read it -- just a person with a curious mind. Doidge is the best possible guide. He has a fluent and unassuming style, and is able to explain difficult concepts without talking down to his readers.

The case study is the psychiatric literary genre par excellence, and Doidge does not disappoint. There is a woman who manages quite well on just half a brain, an eye surgeon who made a remarkable recovery from a severe stroke, a seven-year-old who had to be taught how to hear pitch, an eight-year-old girl whose autism was holding her back from learning how to speak. Their stories are truly inspirational, and Doidge tells them with great compassion and sensitivity.

A masterfully guided tour through the burgeoning field of neuroplasticity research -- Discover

Doidge provides a history of the research in this growing field, highlighting scientists at the edge of groundbreaking discoveries and telling fascinating stories of people who have benefited. -- Psychology Today

Doidge tells one spell-binding story after another as he travels the globe interviewing the scientists and their subjects who are on the cutting edge of a new age. Each story is interwoven with the latest in brain science, told in a manner that is both simple and compelling. It may be hard to imagine that a book so rich in science can also be a page-turner, but this one is hard to set down. -- Jeff Zimman, Posit Science, e-newsletter

Lucid and absolutely fascinating... engaging, educational and riveting. It satisfies, in equal measure, the mind and the heart. [Doidge is] able to explain current research in neuroscience with clarity and thoroughness. Presents the ordeals of the patients about whom [he] writes...with grace and vividness. In the best medical narratives -- and the works of Doidge... join that fraternity -- the narrow bridge between body and soul is traversed with courage and eloquence. -- Chicago Tribune

Only a few decades ago, scientists considered the brain to be fixed or "hardwired," and considered most forms of brain damage, therefore, to be incurable. Dr. Doidge, an eminent psychiatrist and researcher, was struck by how his patients' own transformations belied this, and set out to explore the new science of neuroplasticity by interviewing both scientific pioneers in neuroscience, and patients who have benefited from neuro-rehabilitation. Here he describes in fascinating personal narratives how the brain, far from being fixed, has remarkable powers of changing its own structure and compensating for even the most challenging neurological conditions. Doidge's book is a remarkable and hopeful portrait of the endless adaptability of the human brain. -- Oliver Sacks

The newest buzzword in brain science seems to be neuroplasticity-the idea that the adult brain is capable of positive change. Sharon Begley covers the same ground in her upcoming TRAIN YOUR MIND, CHANGE YOUR BRAIN but with stories of those whose lives have been saved or improved through training based on neuroplastic theories, Doidge's book is much more engaging for lay readers. -- Library Journal

The power of positive thinking finally gains scientific credibility. Mind-bending, miracle-working, reality-busting stuff, with implications, as Dr. Doidge notes, not only for individual patients with neurologic disease but for all human beings, not to mention human culture, human learning and human history -- New York Times

[Doidge] links scientific experimentation with personal triumph in a way that inspires awe for the brain, and for these scientists' faith in its capacity. A valuable compilation of work that seeks to prove the unsung adaptability of our most mysterious organ. Readers will want to read entire sections aloud and pass the book on to someone who can benefit from it. -- Washington Post

The Leopard Can Change His Spots
By Dr. Richard G. Petty
Neuroplasticity has recently become a bit of a buzzword. Long the preserve of neuroscientists, this is one of a number of new books on the topic written for the public.

I recently reviewed Sharon Begley's superb book - Train Your Mind, Change Your Brain - and this one is in a similar vein. Though it is rather different from Sharon's book in which the main focus was on the changes wrought in the brains of meditators, while this one looks at the extraordinary responses of the brain to injury or congenital absence of sensory organs. Since this book went to press, yet another study, this time from India, has shown that some blind children may be able to regain their sight, an observation that is helping turn a lot of neurology on its head.

Neuroplasticity is a topic of enormous practical importance. The increasing evidence that the brain is a highly adaptable structure that undergoes constant change throughout life is a far cry from the idea that we are simply the product of our genes or our environment. Our genes help determine how we can respond to the environment; they do not make us who we are. And we all have untapped potential. This is more than the old nature/nurture debate in a new bottle. It has implications for human potential: how much can you develop your own brain and mind? Can you really teach a child to be a kind, loving person who can dramatically exceed his or her potential? Can psychotherapy really help change your brain for the better? Can we help re-wire the brain of a psychopath? Do we have the right to try?

The author is both a research psychiatrist and a psychoanalyst who has interviewed many experts in the field. His book is full of well chosen and detailed stories about scientists and their discoveries as well as case reports of triumph over unbelievable adversity. There is also a good discussion of people who have remarkable abilities despite the absence of key regions of the brain.

This book is a good complement to Sharon Begley's and if you can afford it, then I strongly recommend that you get both books. If your interest is more in personal development and its effects on the brain, then Sharon's book will be the one for you. If you are more interested in the science and anecdotes about scientists and some amazing patients, then this book may be the one to go for.

Highly recommended.

Excellent balance of case history, theory, and empirical research
By Cory Kerens
This is one of the most interesting nonfiction books that I have *ever* read. I found the book fascinating, but lest that be chalked up to my being a psychologist, my husband the computer scientist found it fascinating, too.

Scientists used to believe that the brain was relatively fixed and unchanging -- some of them still believe that -- but recent research shows that the brain is much more mutable than biologists, psychologists, physicians (and any other scientists who studied brains) had ever thought.

For example, anecdotal evidence had long supported the idea that blind people hear better than sighted people, but scientists pooh-poohed this idea, saying that there was no mechanism for that to occur. Well, they recently discovered that the area of the brain usually called the visual cortex is taken over for auditory processing in blind people. So blind folks have twice as much brain space devoted to processing sounds, which means that they really do hear better, and now we know why. Scientists were astounded to discover that the "visual" cortex was really just brain space that could be used for anything.

Psych 101 and Bio 101 textbooks often have a picture in them that shows which areas of the brain control which bodily functions, and this is all presented as fixed and unchanging. Imagine our surprise to learn that the brain can make fairly large shifts in just a few days -- for example, if you blindfold somebody for five days, the area of their brains that's usually called the visual cortex starts using large sections of itself to process touch and sound, and this change is made in as little as two days. Two days!

The book is not just theoretical, though -- the author is interested in the theory, but he's even more interested in how all of this can be applied to better the lives of real people. He talks about people with strokes who've learned to walk again, people with vestibular problems who've learned to substitute something else for their missing vestibular system, people who've been helped with ADHD, autism, retardation, and many other "incurable" conditions by altering their brains.

The downside of the book is that the author is a Freudian, so there are some annoying comments about how Freud knew it all along, but if you can overlook that, it's all fascinating. The author does an excellent job of drawing the reader in with a story about a real person, then elaborating on the ideas by talking about studies that show the basic principles and their implications, then explaining how this can be used to ameliorate or even cure conditions that were considered incurable.

This book blew me away!

worth reading, with caveats
By A. M. Guest
I have a general professional interest in psychology and brain science, which often leads me to be frustrated by the tendency towards reductionism and exaggeration. This book looked promising to me because the author is advertised as a psychoanalyst--something that usually does not mesh well with neuroscience. I was intrigued to see how Freud might think about modern psychology's biological determinism. On that score, I found The Brain That Changes Itself reasonably satisfying; the chapter on how neural plasticity can help us understand the impact of psychotherapy was among the best in the book. I very much appreciate the emphasis on how experience (including talk therapy) and culture, not just genes and drugs, shape the brain. That is something that is easy to miss in viewing the pretty brain scans of contemporary popular science. I also found the appendix on how culture works through neural plasticity interesting, although I don't find it helpful to define culture as Doidge seems to--something akin to cultivation and taste (a definition that leads to a problematic hierarchy of cultures based on somewhat arbitrary criteria). It is, however, important to recognize that culture and the brain have a reciprocal relationship.

My main concern with the book is that much of the argument seems to imply that the brain is infinitely malleable with the right exercises and effort. Though Doidge does note at points that plasticity is not infinite, he also seems to endorse the very American cultural script that individuals have total control over everything that happens to them. If babies are properly stimulated they will all be geniuses! If ADHD children go through the proper attentional exercises they will suddenly excel! If the elderly go to brain gyms they will never lose their memory! These, unfortunately, are primarily openings for marketers rather than scientific realities. Of course we have some control, and the key findings of neural plasticity research have been helpful in supporting that, but there are some things that are not just about effort--but also about care and community. Overall, I did find this book interesting and worth reading, but also found myself worried about what seemed to me strategic exaggeration.

The Mind of Mahamudra: Advice from the Kagyu Masters (Tibetan Classics)From Wisdom Publications

The Mind of Mahamudra is the third volume in the Tibetan Classics series, which aims to make available accessible paperback editions of key Tibetan Buddhist works drawn from Wisdom Publications' Library of Tibetan Classics.

Enjoy six key texts on the cornerstone meditation practice of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism by some of its most celebrated forebearers.

The Mind of Mahamudra highlights mahamudra, the central meditation practice of the Kagyu school of Tibetan Buddhism. The six texts range in date from the twelfth to the seventeenth century and include such celebrated authors as Lama Shang and the Third Karmapa. Mahamudra is essentially a simple, direct method for looking beyond our thoughts to the very nature of conscious experience. Mahamudra literally means "the great seal" and masters of this tradition have explained it to mean that everything is sealed with buddhahood, and there is no liberation to be attained other than what is already present. Mahamudra, it is said, is not attained not because it is too difficult, but because it is too easy; not because it is too far, but because it is too close; and not because it is hidden but because it is too evident. Because of its universality and directness, mahamudra meditation is particularly suited to the modern West. Eminent scholar Peter Alan Roberts draws on his thirty-plus years of experience of translating for Tibetan lamas to illuminate these benchmark translations.

Review
"The simplicity, depth, and elegance of these translations brings this most profound of all meditative traditions to life, for the general reader and the practioner alike. Eloquent testimony to the boundless realization of these Kagyu meditation masters." (Reginald A. Ray, author of Touching Enlightenment)

"Mind of Mahamudra offers the best of traditional contemplative literature in expertly crafted translation." (Kurtis R. Schaeffer, University of Virginia)

"Quite simply, the best anthology of Tibetan Mahamudra texts yet to appear. It provides a point of entry into Mahamudra meditation as taught within the school for which it has been most important, the Kagyü. The translations of essential texts by such great Kagyü masters as Lama Shang, the Third Karmapa, Pema Karpo, and Tselé Natsok Rangdröl are accurate, accessible, and informatively annotated. Mind of Mahamudra should be on the shelf of every student of Tibetan meditation—and of everyone interested Tibetan Buddhism more generally." (Roger R. Jackson, Carlton College, editor of The Crystal Mirror of Philosophical Systems)

"Mahamudra is at the very heart of the Kagyü tradition, and these texts represent teachings from across the Kagyü schools. As a growing number of English-speaking Dharma students have begun to study mahamudra, there is a great need for English versions of essential works. Peter Alan Roberts is to be commended for his clear and erudite translation and informative annotation of these six texts, which were selected by my own tutor, Khenchen Thrangu Rinpoche, himself a great scholar, teacher, and practitioner of mahamudra. I am certain this compilation will bring great benefit to many." (The Seventeeth Karmapa, Ogyen Trinley Dorje)

About the Author
Peter Alan Roberts was born in Wales and lives in Hollywood, California. He obtained a B.A. in Sanskrit and Pali and a Ph.D. in Tibetan Studies from Oxford University. For more than thirty years he has been working as an interpreter for lamas and as a translator of Tibetan texts.

easy to read
By J. McNelis
This is a must have book for meditation practitioners who want to deepen their practice! It offers profound insight into Mahamudra practice and nature of mind. It's surprisingly simple, easy to read, yet incredibly dense with wisdom from the Tibetan Buddhist Kagyu Tradition. Despite its specificity to a certain Buddhist tradition, it's very helpful to me as general meditation practitioner. I'm thrilled that I discovered this book!

Straight to the heart of Mahamudra, teachings on mind itself
By Willy Richardson
Lama Shang (1122-93) was a famous Tibetan warrior yogi. Legend has it he became enlightened on the battlefield. Whether this is true or not, one thing we can say with certainty is that his teachings are sharp and powerfully simple. He does not put words together to impress, but shoots arrows straight to the heart of Mahamudra, teachings on mind itself.

A dear friend gave me a book titled, The Mind of Mahamudra which includes a text from Lama Shang. Passages brought me to tears. One section of his poetic teachings, White Panacea inspired a new painting series. In only a few stanzas White Panacea outlines the entire body of the Vajrayana path. Lama Shang shows that way and goal are the same: the three jewels, the aspiration and work to benefit others, the 6 paramitas, the vehicles of body, speech and mind, the ways of methods and identification, empowerments – all brilliantly distilled down to three pages.

Micro-trauma: A Psychoanalytic Understanding of Cumulative Psychic Injury (Psychoanalysis in a New Key Book Series), by Margaret Crastnopo

Micro-trauma: A psychoanalytic understanding of cumulative psychic injury explores the "micro-traumatic" or small, subtle psychic hurts that build up to undermine a person’s sense of self-worth, skewing his or her character and compromising his or her relatedness to others. These injuries amount to what has been previously called "cumulative" or "relational trauma." Until now, psychoanalysis has explained such negative influences in broad strokes, using general concepts like psychosexual urges, narcissistic needs, and separation-individuation aims, among others. Taking a fresh approach, Margaret Crastnopol identifies certain specific patterns of injurious relating that cause damage in predictable ways; she shows how these destructive processes can be identified, stopped in their tracks, and replaced by a healthier way of functioning.

Seven different types of micro-trauma, all largely hidden in plain sight, are described in detail, and many others are discussed more briefly. Three of these micro-traumas―"psychic airbrushing and excessive niceness," "uneasy intimacy," and "connoisseurship gone awry"―have a predominantly positive emotional tone, while the other four―"unkind cutting back," "unbridled indignation," "chronic entrenchment," and "little murders"―have a distinctly negative one. Margaret Crastnopol shows how these toxic processes may take place within a dyadic relationship, a family group, or a social clique, causing collateral psychic damage all around as a consequence.

Using illustrations drawn from psychoanalytic treatment, literary fiction, and everyday life, Micro-trauma : A psychoanalytic understanding of cumulative psychic injury outlines how each micro-traumatic pattern develops and manifests itself, and how it wreaks its damage. The book shows how an awareness of these patterns can give us the therapeutic leverage needed to reshape them for the good. This publication will be an invaluable resource for psychoanalysts, psychologists, psychiatrists, mental health counselors, social workers, marriage and family therapists, and for trainees and graduate students in these fields and related disciplines.

Margaret Crastnopol (Peggy), Ph.D. is a faculty member of the Seattle Psychoanalytic Society and Institute, and a Supervisor of Psychotherapy at the William Alanson White Institute of Psychiatry, Psychoanalysis & Psychology. She is also a Training and Supervising Analyst at the Institute of Contemporary Psychoanalysis, Los Angeles. She writes and teaches nationally and internationally about the analyst's and patient's subjectivity; the vicissitudes of love, lust, and attachment drives; and varieties of micro-trauma. She is in private practice for the treatment of individuals and couples in Seattle, WA.

Review

Crastnopol’s book divides up the world in a whole new way. "Micro-trauma" is a convincing conceptualization of some of the most problematic happenings between people. But despite its novelty―and it is brand-new--what Crastnopol describes will be immediately recognizable to any clinician. Add lucid and entertaining writing that is often actually gripping, and you have the makings of a book that will be read at all levels of the field, from students to seasoned analysts. - Donnel Stern, Ph.D., William Alanson White Institute and New York University Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy and Psychoanalysis.

Margaret Crastnopol’s "Micro-trauma: A Psychoanalytic Understanding of Cumulative Psychic Injury" is an exceptional book in that it's a genuinely original contribution to understanding ourselves and others in our day in/day out, lifelong, prosaic, and most intimate interactions. Crastnopol draws on the full range of psychoanalytic thinking to articulate the many ways that we undermine the self-worth and well-being of one another and of ourselves. Reading this book will help therapists and others, all of us, to better understand and catch ourselves as we subtly and unconsciously invalidate, misrecognize, and are misattuned to ourselves and each other. Her creative and literary explications of such relational dynamics as "unkind cutting back," "psychic airbrushing," "chronic entrenchment," and "uneasy intimacy," among many other characterizations, are both immediately useful and unforgettable. - Lewis Aron, Ph.D. Director, New York University Postdoctoral Program in Psychotherapy & Psychoanalysis.

In our contemporary "in-your-face" culture, nuance and subtlety have all but disappeared. Yet these barely-registering phenomena live on in the sounds and silences of the psychoanalytic consulting room. Indeed they are the heart and soul of psychoanalytic discourse. In this superb new contribution, Margaret Crastnopol, an astute observer of those quotidian minutiae that fly under the radar, provides a comprehensive survey of micro-traumas that make up the fabric of our existence but may go unaddressed and unobserved in the hustle and bustle of our everyday lives. She deftly depicts the little murders, the withdrawals, the slights, and the stifled emotions that can wreak havoc on one's sense of well-being, and she shows how psychoanalysis is unique among the panoply of treatments in today’s marketplace in its potential for ameliorating the effect of those painful experiences. I highly recommend this book to both beginning clinicians and experienced analysts. -Glen O. Gabbard, MD, Author, Love and Hate in the Analytic Setting

"Micro-trauma is a fascinating examination of the resonance of emotional experience and how affect operates within an insidious network of related feelings. With an abundance of vignettes to illustrate its principles and a strong, varied theoretical perspective, the book can be invaluable for researchers and clinical professionals alike...The book opens the door for further research and review from professional readership, something valuable for the scientifically and clinically-minded." - Michael Fiorini, Somatic Psychotherapy Today, Volume 5 Number 3, Summer 2015

"Drawing together established theory and clinical practice, this book presents in-depth studies of common, identifiably hurtful behaviors and offers insight into techniques addressing the injuries... Chaplains in a wide variety of settings will find this focused inquiry into the human condition helpful... Introspection is part of the reader's experience, as well... Professional and conversational in her style, Crastnopol skillfully weaves her clinical experience and well-developed theory snuggly into a wider fabric of established psychotherapeutic schools, highlighting the unique contribution her work is making while demonstrating her mastery of the knowledge base." - Keith Goheen, MDiv BCC, chaplain, Beebe Healthcare, Lewes, DE, APC Forum

Not what I was looking for
By Imagine
I guess anyone can write a kindle book. After I read some recipes about eating bacon grease and a lot of fat, I deleted the book. It was vague and unrealistic.
